Shares of STAR SPORTS MED (01609) skyrocketed by more than 36% during intraday trading on Monday. As of the time of writing, the stock was up 12.66% at HK$113, with a turnover of HK$71.1653 million.
The sharp rally follows the company's announcement that it has received the European Union Medical Device Regulation (CE MDR) certification. Notably, this makes the company the first sports medicine manufacturer in China to achieve CE MDR certification across its entire product line.
The certification covers 15 categories of products, including all-suture anchors, all-suture loop plates, continuous suture multi-needle meniscus repair systems, metal suture anchors, PEEK suture anchors, and carbon fiber composite suture anchors. These products encompass implants, active devices, consumables, and endoscopic surgical instruments, offering comprehensive clinical solutions for six major joints: shoulder, knee, hip, elbow, wrist, and ankle.
Additionally, the company has recently obtained product registration approvals in several international markets, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. These approvals cover plasma surgical devices and electrodes, all-suture anchors, and suture-related products, with registration certificates officially issued by the respective local authorities.
These certifications and registrations underscore that more of the company's products now meet regulatory standards in the EU and the aforementioned countries. This development is expected to enhance the company's overseas business expansion across Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, while strengthening its international competitiveness and product portfolio.
