Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Friday as a broad rally in U.S. equities and dovish comments from Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller eased expectations for a September rate hike.
The Hang Seng Index rose 1.2%, or 302.43 points, to open at 25,515.74, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 1.2%, or 96.04 points, to 8,481.28.
Wall Street stocks rallied on Thursday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 1.2%, the S&P 500 gaining 1.1% and the Nasdaq Composite climbing 1.4%.
Waller said he would favor keeping interest rates steady at the Fed's next meeting if upcoming data confirms that inflation pressures are cooling.
Markets subsequently priced in about a 50% chance of a September rate hike, down from roughly 63% in the previous session.
