SpaceX (SPCX) has agreed to testify before the New York City Council this week in connection with a legislative investigation into artificial intelligence safety risks, CNBC reported Tuesday, citing a statement from the council.

The council issued a subpoena to Elon Musk and SpaceX's AI unit on Sept. 28, ordering testimony at a hearing held on Oct. 5. Representatives from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (GOOG, GOOGL) and Meta (META) had attended the hearing, the news outlet said.

SpaceX, which did not attend last week's hearing, agreed to testify after the council warned that it would seek judicial enforcement of the subpoena. The hearing will take place on Friday before the council's tech committee, the report added.

SpaceX and the New York City Council did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
